Fletcher & Nye (1984) stated:-
ACHYRA was established for the two nominal species, Pyralis interpunctalis Hübner, 1796, and Pyralis nudalis Hübner, 1796. Guenée stated that the two might be synonymous, but nevertheless referred to them as `deux espéces'. No original designation of a type-species was made.
