Fletcher & Nye (1984) stated:-

Nomenclaturally available but without available included nominal species until Hampson, 1901, in Rogonot, in Romanoff Mém. Lépid. 8: xvii (key), 311 Monoctenocera was established as a subgenus of Polyocha Zeller, 1848, with one included nominal species * Brachiella Rogonot, a nomen nudum subsequently made available in the combination Monoctenocera brachiella Hampson, 1901 when Monoctenocera was raised to generic level. Monoctenocera was established in the Pyralidae Anerastini, part now Pyralidae Peoriinae, part Pyralidae Phycitinae; on the advice of Dr J. Shaffer Virginia, it is here included in the Peoriinae.
