Nye & Fletcher (1991) stated:-

Mnesarchaea was made nomenclaturally available when it was published in a report on a paper read at a meeting. The paper was later published in full and Mnesarchaea again proposed by Meyrick, 1886, Trans. N.Z. Inst. 18: 180, as the name for a new genus containing the same species.

MNESARCHAEA was included within the family MNESARCHAEIDAE by Kristensen (1999).
