Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:-

Walker spelled the name * Microgone in the key to the Saturniidae genera in 1855 [November 10], ibidem 5: 1200, and in the index to volumes 1-7 in 1856, ibidem 7: 1799. In the generic diagnosis and in the type-species heading in 1855 [December 8], ibidem 6: 1342, 1343, the generic name was spelled Micragone. * Microgone, so far as we have been able to discover, has not been used since 1856, Micragone being used universally. In accordance with the spirit of the Preamble to the Code, and Article 23(a-b), Micragone is here adopted as the correct spelling of the name and * Microgone is treated as an incorrect original spelling.

MICRAGONE was included within the subfamily SATURNIIDAE: LUDIINAE by Lemaire & Minet, in Kristensen (1999).
