Fletcher (1979) stated:-

In the original designation, Warren incorrectly synonymized Boarmia doerriesiaria Christoph, 1881 (which he cited as * Dorriesiaria Christ.', an incorrect subsequent spelling) with Biston plumosaria Leech, 1891; the latter species with its extraordinarily plumose male antennae was the basis of Warren's generic diagnosis. Prout corrected Warren's misidentification of B. doerriesiaria Christoph in 1915 in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde 4: 358.

See Frontispiece 2, fig.15, Biston plumosaria Leech, syntype male.

Under Article 70(a) of the Code, the case of a misidentified type-species should be referred to the Commission.
