Anigraea was established in the Notodontidae; it was placed in the Noctuidae by Swinhoe, 1900, Cat. east. and Aust. Lepid. Heterocera Colln Oxf. Univ. Mus. 2: 93.

Poole (1989) included 18 species in the genus ANIGRAEA.
