B. melanoleusa Hampson, 1902, has as an objective replacement name Trachea melanodonta Hampson, 1908, Cat. Lepid. Phalaenae Br. Mus. 7: 122. The latter is the valid name as the type-species is a junior secondary homonym of Euplexia melanoleuca Hampson, 1902, ibidem 2: 284. Both species are currently placed in Leucotrachea.

Poole (1989) included LEUCOTRACHEA in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.).
