Lepidodelta was proposed as the objective replacement name for Delta Saalmüller, 1891.

Poole (1989) included LEPIDODELTA in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.).

Poole (1989) included DELTA Saalmüller, 1891 (preoccupied) as a junior synonym of LEPIDODELTA Viette, 1967.

Poole (1989) included 3 species in the genus LEPIDODELTA.
