Lebeda was established in the Bombycidae; it was placed in the Lasiocampidae by Butler, 1881, Illust. typical Specimens Lepid. Heterocera Colln Br. Mus. 5: xii, 73.

LEBEDA was included within the subfamily LASIOCAMPIDAE: LASIOCAMPINAE by Lemaire & Minet, in Kristensen (1999).
