Labanda was established in the Pyralidae; it was placed in the Herminiidae, now Noctuidae Hypeninae by Moore, (1885) 1884-7 Lepid. Ceylon 3: 247; and in the Noctuidae Sarrothripinae, where it is currently placed, by Hampson, 1894 Fauna Br. India (Moths) 2: 374
