Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:-

Forbes, 1955, Tijdschr. Ent. 98: 130, stated that the type-species was `designated in the original description by an asterisk'. Aurivillius used both the asterisk and the degree symbol in his paper, but gave no explanation of their use.
