Nye & Fletcher (1991) stated:-
Haworth cited the first included species as mascula with "Tinea muscalella Fab." and "Tinea Masculella." in synonymy. Incurvaria muscula Haworth and Tinea muscalella Fabricius were both unjustified emendations, "T. masculella Hübner" was an incorrect authorship.
