Hemiscopis was not placed in a subfamily when established in the Pyralidae; it was placed in the Pyralidae Pyraustinae by Hampson, 1896 Fauna Br. India (Moths) 4: 416; and in the Pyralidae Odontiinae by Munroe, 1961 Can. Ent. (Suppl.) 24: 5.

Shaffer (pers. comm.) treats HEMISCOPIS in the CRAMBIDAE: ODONTIINAE.
