Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:-
Haplopseustis was established in the Caradrinidae, now Noctuidae; this placing was confirmed by Turner, 1920, Proc. Linn. Soc. N.S.W. 45: 475; it was placed in the Lymantriidae by Strand, 1925, in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde 10: 362, but, as stated on page 36, this part of the work was ready in 1918; publication was delayed due to World War II, so Strand had not seen Turner's 1920 work. Haplopseustis was placed in the Noctuidae, Acontiinae by Nye, 1975, Generic Names Moths World 1: 230.
