Incorrect type-species: Hagnagora catagrammina Druce, 1885 November, ibidem 1: 148, pl.14, fig 3, 4, a name not originally included in Hagnagora and not linked with one of the originally included names when designated by Kirby, 1892, Synonymic Cat. Lepid. Heterocera 1: 405.

This genus was originally proposed in the Melameridae (now Dioptidae); it was included in the Geometridae by Forbes, 1917, Jl N.Y. ent. Soc. 25: 57.
