S. fasciosaria was proposed by Hübner as the objective replacement name for Phalaena fasciata Fabricius, 1775, Syst. Ent.: 629, a junior primary homonym of Phalaena fasciata Scopoli, 1763, Ent. Carniolica: 221.

S. fasciosaria is a junior subjective synonym of Phalaena eleonora Stoll, 1780, in Cramer, Uitlandsche Kapellen (Papillons exot.) 3: 172, pl.288, figs E, F, G.
