This genus was originally proposed in the Lymantriidae, but has since been transferred to the Geometridae; its first published use in this family appears to be by Hampson, 1895, ibidem 3: 312.

Genusa Walker, 1855 is a valid genus (Stat. Rev.) being revalidated by Holloway, 1993, Malayan Nature Journal 47 (1-2) : 26.

Parsons et al. (1999) included 2 species in the genus GENUSA.
