G. coerulina is a junior subjective synonym of Amphigonia placida Butler, 1879, Trans. ent. Soc. Lond. 1879: 57.

Poole (1989) included GABYNA in the subfamily OPHIDERINAE, treated as CALPINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999).
