Fletcher (1979) stated:-

This genus was originally proposed in the Melameridae (now Dioptidae), but has since been transferred to the Geometridae, where it was placed by Prout, 1934, in Strand, Lepid. Cat. 61: 137.

Parsons et al. (1999) included only 1 species in the genus FORMIANA.
