Notes:
Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:-

but cited as Phalaena quadripunctaria Poda, 1761, a nominal species not originally included in Euplagia. Kirby, however, placed quadripunctaria as the senior synonym of hera, a nominal species originally included in Euplagia. Under the Code, Article 69(a)(iv), this designation constitutes the fixation of the originally included name as the type-species.

P. hera is a junior subjective synonym of Phalaena quadripunctaria Poda, 1761, Insecta Mus. Graecensis: 89.

EUPLAGIA was included within the subfamily ARCTIIDAE: ARCTIINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999).
