Incorrect type-species: Phalaena indigenata Villers, 1789, a name not originally included in Eucrostes and not linked with one of the originally included names when designated by Moore, [1887] 1884-7, Lepid. Ceylon 3: 432; by Hampson, 1895, Fauna Br. India (Moths) 3: 504; by Hulst, 1896, Trans. Am. ent. Soc. 23: 313; and by Turner, 1910, Proc. Linn. Soc. N.S.W. 35: 577.
G. fimbriolaria is a junior subjective synonym of Phalaena indigenata Villers, 1789, Caroli Linn. Ent. 2: 383, pl.6, fig.19.

Parsons et al. (1999) included 10 species and 3 subspecies (inc. nominates) in the genus EUCROSTES.
