Erupa was established in the Crambidae, now Pyralidae Crambinae; it was transferred to the Pyralidae Schoenobiinae by Bleszynski, 1966 Acta zool. cracov. 11 492; and restored to the Crambinae by Lewvanich, 1981 Bull. Br. Mus. nat. Hist. (Ent.) 42: 189.

ERUPA was included within the subfamily CRAMBIDAE: CRAMBINAE by Munroe & Solis, in Kristensen (1999).
