Fletcher & Nye (1984) stated:-

Epimetasia was established as the objective replacement name for Metasiodes Ragonot, 1894 July 30.

Epimetasia was not placed in a subfamily when established in the Pyralidina, now Pyralidae; it was included in the Pyralidae : Pyraustinae by Hampson, 1899 Proc. zool. Soc. Lond. 1899: 285; and in the Pyralidae : Odontiinae by Amsel, 1970. Beitr. naturk. Forsch. SüdwDtl. 29: 56.
