please help identify this

My son found this while walking the dog today and would like to know which animal its from?

    Well, it is a flint.

    The concentric structure seen in this broken scetion may result just from its mode of 'growth' (chemical alteration in situ in the solid rock, silica migrating from a finely-dispersed state to a concentrated one, gradually forming a larger lump). But that structure could at least partly be due to a fossil acting as a nucleaus for the flint.One of our flint collectors may have pertinent experience...
