I attach 5 photographs of two different shells - one occupied, one not.
Both found last week on Hunstanton Beach in Norfolk.
Any help with identification would be greatly appreciated.
The occupied shell, appears to be a Mussel/ Oyster hybrid (?) whilst the second, a single valve, apprears to be 'knitted' and an unusual shape for a bivalve - If that is indeed what it is ...
The 2nd is the oval piddock, Zirfaea crispata, see http://naturalhistory.museumwales.ac.uk/britishbivalves/browserecord.php?-recid=343, & 1st Portuguese oyster, Crassostrea gigas, with a bit of mussel stuck on it.
Thanks very much
