im Alex. A couple of years ago i found a rock sitting above ground, bang in the center of the worn desire line that makes up a semi-local footpath of southern England. From two meters this thing seemed strange, dark in colour, the middle of a path on its own etc. So i picked it up and straight away i could see what appeared to be fusion crust, regmaglypts and stress fractures. The rock is only 2 inches accross and does not adhere to a magnet.. Although i dont have a rare earth magnet. Only around 35% fusion crust is still visible, although this hasn't affected all it's characteristics. i have never found a rock that i consider to be a meteorite more than i do this one, dispite the internal corrosion. I believe it to have fallen many hundreds of years ago, and perhaps shattered or broken on impact. this however is only speculation, as the beautiful british weather has taken its toll. any advice?
