Help with spider identification

Hi, I have 2 large spiders in my shed, one on either side of the shed, one of them has what looks like 3 small cotton wool balls next to it too, could someone help me identify them please, I have attached photo taken from my phone,

Thanks in advance

    What ho!

I'm hoping that you are in the UK and that I do not make a real idiot of myself. That being so I would identify both these spiders as an unusually dark form of Tegenaria (The House Spider) the first, a heavier female and the second perhaps a typically thinner male. There are quite a few very similar spiders in this group and one has to get 'up close and personal' with some heavy magnification to tell them apart. The balls are clumps of eggs wrapped up in the spiders silk.

    Best wishes Lewis
