gnats and aphids

I have had trouble with tiny aphids on my indoor cyclamen plants.  At the same time there have also been lots of tiny gnat-like flies.  At first I thought they were not connected (thinking maybe the gnats were fungus gnats or something similar), but am beginning to wonder.  The gnats seem suspiciously interested in the infested leaves.  They fly or run very fast and seldom stay still for long but I managed to get a picture of aphids on a leaf and a gnat apparently inspecting them.  The aphids are probably not much over 1mm long - I had to use "super macro" and the optical zoom to get these pictures.

Any idea what is going on here?  ID of gnat or aphid?

I wonder if the aphid is Neomyzus circumflexum. It does feed on cyclamens

I would guess the gnat is a sciarid. Feeding on the aphids? Don't think so.

I don't know what your source of information is - I thought sciarids fed on fungi in the soil primarily but would turn their attention to tender plant roots if the opportunity presented itself. I'm no expert though.
