I found this specimen in my house though I don't think that is its usual habitat as I haven't seen it before. It is about 3mm in diameter so with my basic camera the photos aren't brilliant but can you identify it please? -a tick of some kind?
I wonder if it's a soft tick (Argasidae). See -
It looks similar in some ways but soft ticks are described as oval and this is definitely round.
Argas vespertilionis, a bat tick, looks a good match. It's round. See -
Thank you jaguarondi. This looks just like my specimen. Bats have been known to roost behind the fascia above the window of the room in which the soft tick was found.
