A Big Ichneumon

Hello All,

this ichneumon was seen 24/05/2012 at Lough Boora Bog ,Co. Offaly ,Ireland. It was a noble beastie and I would like to put a name on it even to family. About 25-27mm long ,black body with thin white stripes .It has been suggested elsewhere that it might be a "Metopius" but I don"t even know if thats found in the British Isles.

Can anyone suggest an identity please ?
