Bat ID please

I saw this bat flying over a lawn at 10 am yesterday (19th March 2012) at Dawlish Warren, South Devon. When I first saw it out of the corner of my eye I thought it was a  sparrow flying past, but then it did a U turn and I realised it was a bat.

The morning was sunny but not warm and the previous night was cold, quite a few insects were flying, so I think that the bat needed to feed. It was flying quite fast, mainly 3 or 4 metres above the ground, in wide looping turns with occasional flutters, presumably when it caught something. I am only familar with pipistrelle and noctule, and it wasn't really like either of them. Any suggestions welcome.

What an absolutely fabulous spot - and a superb photo given the odds.

For my money this would be a Noctule - but I am always keen to be enlightened.
