Unidentified cobweb tubes

At the weekend I dismantled a long disused wooden garden shed. Around the base, sandwiched between the bottom timber of the wall panel and the wooden base I found numerous clusters of tubes as in the attached photo, which I assume were made by spiders.

The tubes are around 50-100mm long and creamy in colour, made out of densely packed threads. A few small dead spiders were found as well.

I am assuming they are brood tubes / nests / breeding cells for some kind of spider. I have come accross the more normal indicidual small round cells before, but never seen anything like these clusters of tubes.

Are they unusual and what are they please?
