My son has sent me this picture. It was taken in Braintree, Essex this morning, 7 Feb 2012. Can anyone identify the bird? He has more pictures in his camera, but they will not be available until he gets back home later in the week. This shot was taken with his Blackberry and he says he was able to get within about ten inches of the bird.
Thanks in anticipation.
Thanks, Florin for your rapid response. I have contacted my son, Lee and he has embarked on a mercy mission in the hope it is still there.
Further to that. Lee has managed to catch the canary, and presumably he now has a further problem. What to do with it. I suspect it will be taken home and given a new lease of life!
Another update to the canary saga. When Lee went back to the premises where he is working temporarily, it was suggested he should go to the next door premises where there are many more employees and therefore a greater chance of finding someone who might want a pet. Coincidentally the cleaner at this place breeds canaries. He was contacted and agreed to give it a home, at the same time advising on care of it until he comes in this evening.
A very pleasing outcome, I think.
