Caterpillar feeding on Cardoon

Hello,

Does anybody have an idea what this caterpillar is? It has been grazing on a cardoon in my garden (in Suffolk) and i can't find a good match in Jim Porters caterpillar id guide.

ManDSC08328.JPGy thanks.

Green caterpillars can often blend into one when looking through images especially in Jim Porters book as there is only a single image of each and so many are quite variable. I would plump for the Angle Shades, Phlogophora meticulosa, which is a generalist feeder on herbaceous plants and able to feed pretty much through the winter when temperatures are mild.
