I have been finding these little bugs knocking about the house for a while now. I'm hoping they aren't some wood boring thing but have a funny feeling they might be :( I have had a look at pictures of common wood boring insects but none seem to have the spikey back this one has. Please can someone help? Thankyou
Thankyou for that, my woodboring beetle fears have been averted....well for now! My Camera is a Panasonic Lumix compact, it is a couoke of years old now but the lens on it is fantastic, it's actualy better than the new model. Thanks again.
I think it would be very unusual to find them infesting something in the house. Sitona weevils are plant-eaters (indeed all weevils eat some part of plants, be it root, stem, seeds, leaf or trunk). I suspect that they are getting in from a nearby outside plant or garden area. Many weevils can fly so they might get in if you leave a window open. Alternatvely they might be present in your houseplants, if you have any. They aren't wood-borers, so you needn't worry about your roof falling in!
