River Tooth/Claw

Hi, I found this item which i think is a tooth or Claw in the river Thames through Oxfordshire. It is 100mm long, 60mm in circumference at the wide end and curved.

As i found it in the river i've put it in a jar of  water in case it dries out and breaks.

Would you know what animal the item might be from and do i need to keep it in water or can i let it dry out?

Many thanks for any advice,
