They seem rather like a kind of ladybird - perhaps in the same family - from the shape and the way they moved. Sorry no better pictures, but they were so small and moved about so fast... They are black or dark brown and yellow, and the markings are irregular bands rather than stripes.
I've tried to draw something of an impression of them; though it's obviously not accurate.
The photos are small, but the beetles (especially in the bottom photo) look to me like Varied Carpet Beetles (Anthrenus verbasci). Is it possible that they live in the flowers of Lords and Ladies? Wikipedia says that "Adults emerge between late May and early August, flying to and feeding on the pollen of flowering plants."
