Bright yellow moss/fungus?

Found this on my slate roof, only seems to be yellow when a young colony.  What look like older ones are a dull green.  Is it a type of moss?

I'm no expert and assuming it's millimeters high on the tile I would be happy with it being a lichen rather than moss,

I'm also not an expert in lichens and it's unlikely yours could be identified from the photo since much more detail needs to be seen.   However it appears to be a crustose lichen, so you can use this web page to perhaps find what it is by comparison with the details of yours.  There are six types listed, each clicked on show thumbnails and they in turn can be clicked to open a new page with an enlarged photo with the species name in the URL (interrnet address).  The top two crustose types on the linked page seem the most likely to reveal the species.
