Plant ID ? Nightshade

Hi,

I need to identify this plant which has taken over in a natural area of my garden and even appeared in pots elsewhere.

I left it as the leaves are an attractive colour with tinges of dark browny purple. The flowers were small and purple and I assumed they were wild violets.

However, they now appear to be starting to fruit and I am concerned in case its a type of poisonous nightshade as I have a young puppy I want to let loose in the garden. They're mostly fairly low to the ground but do put up some longer shoots.

Your advice would be most appreciated.
