Plant ID please

Cannot place this one at all, interesting looking seed pods. The plant was quite tall and covering a large area. Taken in June in the Isles of Scilly and probably have been planted. Help will be appreciated.

    Hi Hairstreak,

I'm pretty sure this is one of the X Halimiocistus, an intergeneric hybrid between Halimium and Cistus.

There aren't many varieties, and I think it's either X Halimiocistus sahucii (cross between Halimium umbellatum and Cistus salviifolius), or X Halimiocistus 'Ingwersenii' (cross between H. umbellatum and C. inflatus).

Both are hardy enough to grow in most areas of the UK.
