Hoverfly identification

I think this is a hoverfly but I haven't been able to identify it.  Can anyone tell me what it is please?

Sorry for the quality of the photo but it kept moving about and I had to take it quickly (-:

    Looks like Meliscaeva auricollis.

    Hi Angie,

Hate to be a 'fly in the ointment', if you'll forgive the pun, but your hoverfly is Meligramma trianguliferum rather than Meliscaeva auricollis.

The triangular shape of the yellow abdominal markings and the hint of yellow just visible down each side of the thoracic dorsum are diagnostic

of this species. Hope this doesn't confuse you too much!?

    Regards,

    Paul

Hehe, writing down what you actually think is not always happening. Paul, you are right and it was the species I intended to give but I wrote down an another name. Apparently age is catching up with me.
