Identify cocoon/nest found on a banana

Can you tell me what this is please?

Has it hatched or is there a bug still inside?

Is it dangerous? Should I report it? If so who to and where - it is in Hamburg Germany.

Thank you

It looks like the cocoon of a moth, with the chrysalis still inside. The pupa (the stage between caterpillar and moth) may be dead. They store green bananas for weeks in cool containers, and if this is a tropical moth the low temperature may have killed it. Does it wriggle when you touch it?

You can take it to your local Museum, University, or to the Environmental Protection Agency, maybe to the local Council if they have an environmental advisor. Just in case it could be an invasive species. The chances of this being something dangerous to people is small.
