Found this in a creekbed near the calhoun coal bed, any ideas? It is slightly bendable, just to the point you think it might shatter. I have tried scraping the underside to see if it was just wood, and it dosent scrape, scratch, or mark easily at all. Thought at one time it could be petrified treebark but i have never seen anything like it on the web. Any suggestions would be great!
The first of these two pictures looks like the inside of a bone which has been split open. It is hard to be sure from the photo's, however the second image seems to be smoother and the correct sort of colour to also suggest it could be bone. I hope this helps.
The Calhoun you mention wouldn't be about 20 miles north of Rome in Georgia would it?
