    The Four-banded Longhorn beetle, Leptura quadrifasciata (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), which is a widespread and fairly common species throughout the UK. The larva of this species feeds for between 2 and 4 years within the dead wood of a variety of broad leaved trees, especially birch. Adults are often seen visiting flowers (as in this photo) between May and September.
