another strange one

a car park for a block of flats is not where you would expect to spot an "exotic" caterpillar so i just had to find out what it was?

This amazing little chap looks like the caterpillar of Pale Tussock Calliteara pudibunda, a moth that is quite common (south of Cumbria!) and often found around urban parks, gardens etc. The caterpillar is very distinctive, having thick hair tufts and a red-orange horn-like structure at the tail end of the body. Have a look at for more info.
