Writhing velvety mass!

Found these chaps which I believe to be Marine Springtails Anurida maritima in a rock pool on the beach at Seascale in Cumbria. They are I guess a couple of mm in length and were just writhing around on the surface of the pool. It was amazing how they sat on top of the water, not breaking the surface tension doing a fair impression of a feeding frenzy.

The FSC page http://www.theseashore.org.uk/theseashore/SpeciesPages/Additional%20Species/Springtails%20marine.jpg.html gives some more info.
