Could this be a fossilised vertebra?

I found this specimen on the foreshore at Seatown, Dorset.

 

I wondered if it was a fossilised vertebra. However, as shown by the photos - front and rear elevations - the circular area in the middle of both the front and rear elevations is raised. The centre of each of these circular raised areas features a 'hollowed middle'.
