Can anyone identify this fossil?

This is from the Weald Clay from the Swindon area.

It is a partial fossil and the imprint of it. You can see that the imprint is bigger and that we don't have the whole fossil.

Any help greatly appreciated.IMG_2253.JPG

    Maybe a horse-shoe crab?

    Hi Gavin

Interesting find, it looks like whatever it is has suffered along the way.

I think it could be an ammonite or even a bivalve because it's hard to tell the id of your specimen.

I agree with Mikes suggestion and take it along to the local museum or geological society, they are the experts in your area and have probably found something similar.
