Not a mosquito but a chironomid midge - AKA non-biting midges. Many a chironomid goes under the newspaper believed to be a a mosquito - its a bad rap.
brilliant..thankyou...do I need to get rid of them from my showroom/? on researching would it be correct to assume they are coming up from the damp cellar?
Well they wont do any harm, but they dont live long so you may have to sweep up a bit more. Adults are atttrcated to bright lights after dark. Some species do live in damp soil but most species are aquatic and reqire a source of water nerarby.
