I found this from a recent rock fall from the cliff at Fairlight Cove today. I think it is from the Ashdown Formation sandstone. I was able to clean it up fairly easily by chipping away the soft surrounding rock.
I thought it may be a bone fragment?
Yes I think it is bone (I could do with a closer look end-on to see the cellular structure just to make sure).
Considering its location at Fairlight, the main possibilities are dinosaur, crocodile and other reptile.
Fairlight is well known for its bone (and other) fossils
Doesn't come much better than that!
Great find Mark, nice clean recent breaks.
Wish i was there!!
